While I am writing this the World Series is happening, and I can’t help but think of teams. In my last update I mentioned how I am so thankful there is no “I” in team. I spoke of the team and how it takes all of us to create synergy and to work as a whole. The two baseball teams have certainly shown that during the world series! What has gotten them there? Coaches! Teams need a coach to keep them on track, give them direction, instruction and to keep them focused on the goal. Coaches need to have a passion for what they are doing, it is then that we see them make a difference and see others want to follow. I have seen that as I have traveled this last fall and have watched component leadership have synergy and work as a whole. There have been some incredible conferences with great information and education on Pediatric Pain Clinics and Pediatric Challenges, Multi-Modal Pain Management, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Medical and Recreational use of Cannabis, Nursing and Social Media, Surgical Site Infections and ways to Decrease Risk, Legal Considerations, Conflict Resolution and Patients with PTSD to name a few. We have such a vast richness to our profession and I have witnessed that these past couple of months. I am so proud to see what is going on within the components and see how we are making a difference as PeriAnesthesia Nurses! What we do is really important and impacts our patient’s lives! Thank you to the Coaches (leadership) in each component for leading the team and putting together amazing educational offerings! Thank you for having a passion for your profession!
